I'm interested in purchasing an Altima Hybrid but i have a couple questions from current Alti-Hybrid owners. I test drove the car but i'm a little concern with the actual gas mileage can you guys please anwer the following questions:

How many MPG do guys get on full tank of gas?


How many gallons does the car take?


What type of fuel are you guys using?

I would really appreciate all information

We don't have enough tanks of gas yet for me to give you a really accurate answer. We appear to be getting between 36-38 mpg. We used high octane on our first tank and Chevron regular on our second. Our next tank will be Shell regular.

The tank holds 20 gallons, but I'm not sure when the fill up light comes on.

I'm on about 600 miles on this tank and still not ready to refill.

The Altima hybrid definitely has "gusto" compared to other hybrids we drove. I think that is why some people get lower MPG. There can be a temptation to drive it more like a sports car than like a hybrid. We try to drive conservatively.

My wife and I purchased an Altima Hybrid at the end of March. We only got the base one as it had twice the features of any other car I’ve ever owned and at that time few places were making any kind of deal. This is our first Hybrid and first Nissan. We liked the look, ride and comfort of the Altima better then the Prius or the Camry Hybrid and several folks at my work recommended the Altima. We have put just over 3000 miles on it and just gave it its first oil change. So far we have averaged 35 to 36 MPG over the last 3 tanks of gas. We have had no problems with this car and it is very comfortable. The feel of the engines and transmission take some getting used to, and the trunk is small, but this has not been a problem. One of the first things we did was take a trip from central New Jersey to upstate Vermont. In Massachusetts, we filled the tank with gas at the same place and time my brother filled his Chevy Trailblazer. When we were almost in Canada we filled up again. We paid 19 dollars for mid-grade and my brother paid 47 dollars for regular for the same trip. We then drove the Nissan all the way back to NJ without filling again and did it with more then a third of the tank left. At that rate we figured we could travel from the Canadian border all the way to Washington DC (in real world driving) without filling the tank. This is a nice car.

While I can't give you -my- mileage (as I don't have a NAH), from what I've seen (EPA and other owners posting so far), the car gets almost exactly the same mileage as the Toyota Camry Hybrid.

We will be driving up to Northern California this Wedneday from Orange County, CA. We plan to fill the tank at the beginning of the trip and see how much of a tank the trip north takes us. I'm going to bet our drive costs us about $30... significantly better than if we were to do the trip in my big SUV.

It will be fun because this will be the first chance for us to do a long highway road trip.

OK got my seond fillup today after 4 weeks.

635 miles for 16.9 gallons or 37.5 mpg. Mpg meter said 39.7
so quite a difference.

For this I used the exact same pump at the exact same gas
station with auto shutoff during both fillups. So the number
should be quite accurate.

This is 80% city driving and 20% highway.

I tried quite hard to maximize mpg but am not staisfied yet.

My goal is to cross 40 mpg. Will try some more this time and
hope the engine break in is true.

In the freeway while crusing at 65 miles per hour which is the limit
here in the Bay area, I could never get above 36 mpg (this
information I got from the fuel consumption history in the navi)

So looks like the only way to hit 40 mpg is to do a lot of city
driving. In the city streets I can get 60 mpg stretches with pulse
and glide.

Tire pressure is set to 38 psi. 35 is recommended max is 44.

Maybe will try 40 psi this time.

Also draining the battery before parking at home each night by
gliding through the last miles on EV mode is a good idea. In the
morning the gas engine has to fire up to warm the catalytic
converter. It can as well charge the battery then. If battery is
already charged from last night, the excess energy at that time
is just wasted.

I am trying my best to treat this car the way I would any other. I would like to see how it performs under normal conditions and usage. I admit I like "stealth mode" too much. I am happy with the 35 MPG we seem to be able to maintain without constant tweaking.
