Not happy with that at all. So, checked the tires, they were at 35psi, like door recommends. Tires say max is 44psi, so set to 44psi just after this tank. We'll see how the 3rd tank goes...

- MPG: see above.
- Tank is 20 gallons, but it starts warning early, so fills are only 16 to 17 gallons.
- Using Shell regular (87 I think). Might have 10% ethanol - whatever that means...

Keep tires inflated. Our tests show that driving on moderately underinflated tires is more of a safety concern than a fuel-economy issue. We set the pressure in all four tires to 10 psi below that recommended by the automaker. This reduced highway fuel economy slightly, by about 1 mpg for the Camry and by a much smaller margin for the Mountaineer. But more importantly, underinflated tires provide much less grip for turning and stopping and run much hotter. Overheated tires wear faster and can lead to a blowout. Check the pressure of your vehicle's tires at least once a month, when the tires are cold. Also check the tires before and after long road trips. The recommended tire pressure is found on a label inside the car—usually in a doorjamb, inside the glove-box lid, or inside the fuel-filler lid.

My 4th fill-up today, same station, same pump and I'm even holding my tongue the same way....

The cars dash MGP calculation is just stinky old B.S.! Every tank the dash is right around 39.0 MPG, real world math is 37.2

Even the miles till empty is waaaaaaay off, I can't belive Nissan couldn't do a better job with something so simple. Especially after building such an involved drivetrain and control system, oh, wait a minute......

Just had my fifth fill-up and my first 700 mile tank.

The guages, meters in the NAH are hopelessly inaccurate.

As in the previous post, I always use the same pump in the same gas
station with auto shutoff and fill only on tank empty.

It was 701 miles for 18.8 gallons for real mpg of 37.3.

The mpg meter in dash showed 39.7. This +2.5 mpg is a constant
error for every tank.

I drove 100 miles after the range in the dash showed --- and still
there was 1.2 gallons left in the tank. I do not know what is the use
of such a range calculator. They can as well warn at half tank.

The range also suddenly drops from around 30, 35 miles to ---. Dont
they even know how to count down to 0 ?

I figured when range goes to zero it uses around 16 gallons with 4
gallons left in the tank. If I add the 30,35 miles that it showed before
it droped to ---, then at that point around 17 gallons are consumed.

After that driving another 70 miles is safe provided your driving style
remains the same and the mpg meter in the dash continiues to be the
vicinity of the same value.

One more point, when the fuel guage shows half tank I complete 400
miles, then at 600 miles it gives tank empty warning. There should
be a limit to this non-linear behavior of the fuel guage, however inaccurate it might be.

Cannot seem to break out of the 37.x mpg. I think it is because of
my short commute of 20 mins. Drive is 80% city. Tire pressure is at
42 psi. Mileage of car is 3500. First oil change is done.

It takes me one month to empty a tank. This was my original goal which
I am almost achieving but would like very much to break the 40 mpg
barrier.

I am so impatient wating for the summer to end so I can get some good milaeage also. Please today was 102F I love the summer heat heat for years but now I want it to go away for the first time. I got about 45 days to go. Boo. But the bright side is that it will be broken in by then.

Don't worry, the gauges on the Civic Hybrid aren't 100% accurate either. The newer ones seem to always report 2 mpg lower than what people calculate and most have reported driving 50+ miles after all the LED bars on our fuel gauge disappears (and the last few bars seem to disappear really fast too). I always drive past empty before filling up again except there are a few months in a row where if I don't fill up I lose my loyalty rewards at the gas pump (kroger) since like igh I usually need to fill up only once a month. We don't have the range to empty gauge.
