Let us know if you were able to install an aftermarket sound system in your 400h with great success.

I recently purchased an RX 400 H and would like to install -

1 XM Radio
2 iPod Connectivity

I have seen a number of posts here - but has anyone actually done 1 and 2 above and can you provide your thoughts and advice and feedback? Thank-you!

nightmare.. Tweeter totaly screwed my 400h. the factory stereo causes BIG problems for aftermarket amps.. the factory head unit is tri amped. internaly.. so the only way to tap into it for the aftermarket amp is to take the 3 speaker level outs... tweet mid and bass and use a SUMMING device... sucks...

then on top of that my installer told me that the factory head is turning down the bass and teble at high levels to protect the factory speakers from blowing.. well they are long gone but there is no way to tell the factory head unit to just put out a full signal...

my lexus is so messed up now.. i want to go trade it in.... Tweeter has filed bankrupcy so i am screwed..

dont mess with the factory stereo... i am pretty sure you will regret it I do..

anyone want a 400h cheap?

ok some good news.. i was able to put xm in via the AM button.. yes thats right..

there is an adapter that lets you hit AM 2 times and change the input to xm.. it even displays on the factory head...

I put in the SoundLinQ from Vais (http://www.vaistech.com) in my HiHy and am 99% thrilled with it. [The last 1% is due to personal opinion on interface design quibbles, but I can't complain as the unit works perfectly as advertised.]

I went with the iPod adapter, but I can only imagine that the XM adapter would offer a similar experience. Check with your local specialty car stereo installer store; mine knew all about the SoundLinQ and where the best place to install it was, etc etc.

For a direct iPod interface we have a one that is very user friendly. With our kit it will display the text information on your radio display. Also our kit will allow you to be able to brows your playlist, artist, and albums right from the radio.

Out kit keeps the iPod charged for you as well. It plugs into the input port on the back of the radio. Where our kit is a direct digital input you can run the iPod cable int the glovebox or center consol area so that your iPod is out of the way completely.

No need to tune into a radio station any more, or have a cable hanging from your tape player.

The kit also has an 1/8 audio input for any other audio device that you want to use in the car like a portable XM or Sirius Satellite radio, other portable MP3 players, or if you have a DVD video system installed you can run the audio directly into the audio system.

The kit is $159.99. If you are interested or have anyother questions please let me know.
