my experience with these cold air intakes is they really are only effective for launches from start where air temps within the engine bay exceed ambient. once moving, the air temp between inside and outside engine bay is the same. so, if you are frequently running 1/4 strips, these are great. otherwise, not really needed.

regarding the spacer, ive never heard or seen any dyno results or mpg tests showing it helps. like someone else said, GM would do all they could to get a slight % mpg increase, if all it took was a little spacer i think they would of designed that into their OEM system.

im curious - how are you getting past the speed limiter, and how are you "jamming" the auto stop mode ?

That is so true about the cold air intake. Other then from0-51mph I notice nothing. I am so slow with the accelerator now . And I don't like rolling around on battery because I'm pretty sure it is killing the life of the battery like this. Ok so If I wanted to jam the auto stop. Put it to the floor from a dead stop like a red light I can make tires squawk a little. Make sure I don't red line, I hate red lining the motor on this truck sounds like im beating a big dog or something ,hit 3000 max then half throttle to whatever . This is the first vehicle I have ever gotten up to 100mph . Pretty sure it's limited to 103mph guys i ain't lying. I don't want to find out for sure because if I get caught my life is ruined. Here in Toronto speed limit is only 60mph. I know never to red line that's how u destroy gaskets and that's when the oil leaks happen

Shane, you don't need to jam the pedal so far to force a faster start of the engine comming out of Auto-Stop. A quick transition from 0 to about half pedal will convince the hybrid system to bring the engine on sooner. Even 0-to-50% and let right off will bring the engine on for about 10 seconds. Other posters here had found by sophisticated measurements that your truck is not using all the battery capacity. By using part of the capacity and not overheating the battery, they should last a long time. The Prius uses the same Ni Mh cells and most Pri-ii are not having battery problems.

It will not go past 100mph. In fact 99 mph is the top end before it shuts down.
