My Poor I2
With 7,100 miles and 6 monsths of ownership, my wife was sideswiped today on the freeway by an SUV weaving through traffic. At this point, there's 4K in damage.
The best part is the other driver actually tried to make a claim against my insurance saying she was in the lane the whole time. What a piece of work, stupid Chicago drivers! Here we go with my insurance battling her insurance (a fly-by-night company that our insurance was not even able to locate initially).
Good news is that, by default almost, the only parts available are OEM. The bad news, a good 2 weeks in the shop.
Sorry to hear about your car. I hope your wife is alright.
It's crazy how some people weave in and out on the highway. I wish they'd just pick a lane and stick with it for the most part. Sure, sometimes you have to pass, but weaving is another thing entirely. It usually gets them nowhere fast.
Good luck with everything.

Re: My Poor I2
She's a little sore but otherwise ok. On the + side, at least I'll get OEM parts for replacement and the damage appears to be relatively superficial without any major structural damage found at this point.
Perhaps the paint will be even better since the car had a bit of the "orange peel" effect on the factory paint. I'm looking at getting the windows tinted as well since it will be in the shop for a good 3 weeks or so.
Sorry to see that. We are also in the Chicago area and worry about being crushed occasionally by the erratic drivers and vehicles.
What was the $estimate for the repair?
