Top speed for an Insight? - GreenHybrid

I can't find a top rated speed for the Insight II? Anyone know what it is?

I haven't had the desire to try a high speed run with the Insight. I've had it up to 75 but prefer highway speeds of 60-65. I seem to ge best highway mileage at 58-62 depending on wind.

112 mph

At 112, the engine will cut out because of the ECU, to lower the speed.

Sorry, I forgot where I read it... I remember my sister asking yesterday and the Dealer was saying something about 100, and then later at night I saw it online where it was 112... which I think is an odd number... but I think it's because the limit is actually 180 kph (180 kph is 112.5 mph)... whatever.

Well, I'd say the limit is quite reasonable being that none of us are ever likely to need to exceed that.

i managed 115 on my HCH I. but it was down an empty 3 lane highway going down a very steep and straight section. it felt like it could go more to be honest. first and last time i did it, just wanted to see how fast it could go. i was more worried about the tires not handling it. i was expecting some kind of limiter to kick in but nothing did.
