Rigger Ive had 3 teenagers, ran them all through our insurance. At one time or the other as they where getting started. Allstate did us good with them. They where good students and all that so the teenage driver wasnt that high here. Plus we made them pay there portion or took the keys. Im thinking Allstate hates Hondas. Im hearing of high pricing across the board from other folks all across the net concerning all hondas and Allstate. Its a shame. Im not going to enjoy firing them. after our long a good relationship.

[quote=psyshack]I will NEVER buy another Civic as long as I live! [quote]

I wouldn't blame the car for the high insurance price. My wife and I have good coverage on our 06 Civic Hybrid and our 99 CR-V. We pay a total of $1400 per year for both. Our civic replaced an 05 Honda Element, which was totaled by someone who ran a red light, and our insurance came down $100 per year on the Civic vs the Element. I'm paying far less than I was several years ago when I was driving a 99 Integra.

Actually I just dumped Allstate last Friday after almost 4 years and went to USAA, $700 a year cheaper! (2000 Insight, 2003 HCH, 1999 Ford Escort SE Wagon with liability only) That'll be a house payment - one payment closer to getting my home paid for and then off the grid capability is next.

Only problem is my motorcycle insurance is $34 a year more expensive, I don't even ride the thing but maybe 400 miles a year.

It must be nice living in a state that does not set insurance rates for its minions...Here in taxachusetts, it's either your first born or your right arm and left leg...

My wife and I pay a total of 2300 per year for my 05-HCH and her 01-HA and we are both step 9 drivers, which means never had an accident or moving violation in the last 5 years... Me never, her one of each but a long time ago...

There are only a few "select" companies that can operate here and the state house solons (the gov mainly) is trying to get a free market system back in place.

Once they reduce the "staged" accident claims I think we will be ok. In one town alone, they reduced the fraud claims by 9 million $$. Someone will stage and accident then 8 people will jump into the vehicles and claim an injury...

Offices in your community = you're paying the agent's commission = your rates will *probably* be higher than if you eased up on that particular restriction to your shopping.

Then again, if you got a quote from Progressive then I'm pretty sure you're contradicting yourself. I'm almost positive that Progressive doesn't have captive agents. In other words, I'm almost positive that if you got a face-to-face quote on a policy from Progressive, it was from an independent agent. He or she may hang a sign that says "Progressive", but he or she doesn't work for the company.

David

I dont have a problem with a bit higher rate from a agent with a office. Progressive is a online quote. Dosent mean Im going to take the cheapist quote.

I am in California and I second Allstate High Premiums.

I just switched from Allstate (2 cars = 100/300/100, $500) about $1100/6 months to 21st (250/500/250, $500 deductable) at $650/6 months.

We are 39 and 38 and 1 accident each.
Now, I have to change Home Insurance, too...

I'm almost pretty sure that it the insurance fraud that's killing us all in premiums. Once they get that under control the rates may come down a little. It's all the low lifes and illegals that are staging accidents with 8+ people in the vehicles claiming injurys and living off the fat of the land. A couple of years ago some "stagers" paid a woman $200 to sit in a car they were going to crash, unfortunately, she was killed.

My insurance for the HCH II is about the same as my wife's 2003 Accord LX (about $780/yr), which is a discount for having my homeowner policy with them as well. I'm with Travelers, so I'm hoping that 10% discount for hybrids is valid here in Texas. However, I'm concerned that those rates are going to go up because of the hurricane hysteria. Texas has some of the highest rates since the TX Department of Insurance is in bed with the insurance industry.
