Nuclear power is not a justification for continuation of a policy that places ever increasing demands on power without regard to efficiency. It may work as a stop-gap measure, but not for the long run. There is a trade off for all energy sources -- in this case, nuclear waste and what to do with it.
The only time there is not a trade off is for energy that isn't used. Even solar and wind generated energy has capital costs and an impact on the planet -- even though in some cases that impact might be positive, it's still an impact and needs to be considered as such.
