Clubford00,

Just a Heads-Up if you will, it use to be the same options here on the Higher Speed Services until just recent. I just went on Line and checked to see if I could get the (BellSouth) DSL Lite Service at my home residence and I could/am. If you have BellSouth there where you are then you may be able to get the same service.

It Runs $24.95 Per Month with BellSouth and it is called (BellSouth FastAccess DSL Lite). When you are a current customer of BellSouth and also a Current Customer of (AOL), Your AOL account drops down to $9.95 Per Month and the 1st 6-Months is (Free) and the 7th Month AOL will start Billing you at the $9.95 Per Month Charge. So, you have BellSouth for $24.95 + AOL for $9.95 Per Month. This is called the (Bundle-Plan) and you Cannot View it on Line yet because it is so New that AOL does-not have it on Line Yet.

I was already paying this much for the Very-Slow (As-You-Know) Dial-Up Service with AOL. So it cost me $10.00 to retain my AOL Account and also to now have the BellSouth FastAccess DSL Lite Service as well.

A Really Great deal:

HTH;

Terry

BTW: everything was done on Line and AOL has on-line Live Help if Needed.

yeah, i have had both DSL and Cable. locally the cable service has jumped in quality, but you cannot go wrong either way. Our DSL is 1.5 MBps, Cable 9 MBps and claiming to be going up again really soon. Anything over 1 MB is fast enough for most anything you are doing unless you want to download music, movies, files and surf the net at breakneck speeds at the same time, or are running multiple computers on the same line.

Just a side note, wireless WANs are capable of up to 54 MBps (some faster with speed plus technology or whatever it is called) ... and most of our computers ethernet are 10MB/100MB with the newest ones being 1000MB (1GB/sec) capable. Just shows you what they have in store for us. If I would have thought of it I would have networked my computers before getting rid of the old one to transfer files instead of saving to CDs and DVDs.

I know you are going to LOVE you new connection speed. You will wonder how you kept your sanity with a dial-up connection. I will not bother with going online if that is all that is availible to me. Call me spoiled if you like. I get impatient when it takes more than a second or two for a intensive page to load up, or even a video. The companies need to upgrade thier servers!!! hehe

Yeah they upgraded the cable service here in Phoenix recently. Used to be 4mbit down, 512kbit up, last week it went to 6mbit down, but same for up. I tested it out and sure enough, downloaded the online version of my local newspaper (a 25MB download) at an average of 735kb/sec, which is almost at the theoretical maximum for a 6mbit connection. More speed is always better.
