Warning: FBI's Eco-Terrorist Profile
I could be in trouble now!
The FBI might see my webpage Pictures of the High and Mighty and profile me as a potential eco-terrorist. And yes -I'm still taking pictures...

Re: Warning: FBI's Eco-Terrorist Profile
Now after looking at the burned up SUV's. I just wonder how toxic for the enviroment was the smoke from the fire? Was it equal to what it would of been for what the proposed life was? Food for thought for the girl (or guy) that goes out and burns up SUV's in their spare time.

Excelent point. And it just means the dealer gets insurance to cover the suv and they will just order another from the factory. I wonder if a dealer on a slow sales month could trash all his expensive SUVs and blame ECO terrorists and collect insurance.

....and the last thing most of us here want to see is a misguided zealot to turn a Hummer dealership into a martyr....actions like this by a few give everybody else environmentaly concerned a bad name.

You mean like this story about people torching their own cars? There was a discussion about it over on The Car Lounge that pointed out many insurance companies immidiately flag burned cars as fraud and in fact it's not even covered by a lot of policies unless you got in a wreck the fire was caused by the wreck.

Re: Warning: FBI's Eco-Terrorist Profile
I came across a burning SUV a few months ago, it was probably stolen or fraud since it was in a semi-remote area with mostly farms. Shot some video of it as it's tires exploded, then the firetruck came and hosed it down, but something in the engine was made from magnesium so it was burning bright white before they used some kind of fire extinguisher on it.

Re: Warning: FBI's Eco-Terrorist Profile
It wasn't an X5 was it? BMW is very heavy in the use of magnesium parts for their vehicles. I suppose it's probably used for various components in other vehicles too though. I've never quite understood what magnesium's advantages are over forged aluminum, but it's definitely present here and there.
