Mitsubishi initially considered switching the Evo over to a gasoline-powered hybrid, something along the lines of the PX-MiEV SUV concept. Luckily, the company decided against that far-from-desirable course of action. Now, the Evo XI research and development team has been given the green light to develop the next-gen model as a diesel hybrid monster, capable of preserving the Evo's highly regarded image.
I've been waiting for a diesel hybrid, although my guess is this "sports" hybrid diesel would be out of my price range
Re: mitsubishi evolution XI is going to be a hybrid?
It is been estimated that Evolution XI will be the best Evo in 2013. The engine is loaded with new hybrid plug ins. The main source of power will not be from gasoline engine. Instead an electric motor drives the front wheels. While current EVO functions at 290hp, the new EVO is expected to produce 320hp. In total, the car will be the best hybrid in the market by 2013.
