2009 FEH not going into reverse

2009 FEH not going into reverse
I have a 2009 FEH with 160k miles and have owned it the whole time. This scenario happened today:
Pulled out of garage first thing in morning and shut off engine. A minute later put shifter into reverse and engine rev’d to about 2500 rpm’s and vehicle didn’t move. Shut off engine, turned engine back on and reverse then worked with no problems.
It also did the same thing for the first time back in July, 2021.
I checked for codes using the FORScan Lite iPhone app and none were found each time.
I had the transmission fluid changed at 147k miles in March, 2021.
Does this sound like a shifter cable issue or is something else wrong?

Re: 2009 FEH not going into reverse
I experienced a similar problem when my OEM hybrid battery was failing on my '07. Reverse is electric only, no direct connection to ICE, so the HV battery must be able to handle the load or ICE will rev but no reverse movement.
What's your battery State of Charge when this occurs?

econoline,
I checked the average state of charge just now and it was 79.96%, but it has been a couple of days since this incident, but I will check the SOC right away if this happens again.
What percentage SOC would be considered too low?

econoline,
I don't know what the SOC was at the time of this incident. I checked just now and it was 79.9%. I will certainly check the SOC if this incident happens again.
What would be considered a SOC % that is too low?

Re: 2009 FEH not going into reverse
Can you recreate the scenario where it won't move in reverse while you monitor the SoC? I would see the rpm's increase while the SoC would rapidly fall below 20%. The electric only reverse pretty quickly discharges a weak battery.

It has only done it twice in 4 months, but I will leave the readout plug in place and it happens again I can check the BSOC % in real time.
Not sure how intermittent this scenario is, so it could be awhile before it happens again.
