Some of the features mentioned in the article may not be available for the hybrid. For example, auto-start and DVD-players in the headrests are two items that can be installed in the gas-Escape or Mariner, but not the hybrid versions. Likewise, we may not see Sync or other features with the hybrids for a while.
However, even if they do come out, these are just cute little features. As I just bought my '08, no jealousy. By the time I'm ready for a new vehicle, I hope there are considerable changes in the hybrids to justify my purchase.
I had a '97 2-door Explorer Sport - bought it new. Every so often, I would look at the new Explorer Sports. I was never impressed enough with the "upgrades" to justify selling my Sport and getting another. Eventually, I traded in my Sport, but only after it was clear it's time was "done". I have a feeling I'll be the same way with my FEH. I won't see enough features on the new models to justify an upgrade of any type for a while.
Still, it's nice to see Ford moving forward.
