Yes it is original. I have a scangauge and monitor SoC and Tav. SoC was typically 52% and held right there pretty constant. It's been somewhat variable in the last year and had re-calibration cycles twice.

The same for TaV usually held right on 87f. Now that spring is here and temps are heating up I've notice fans and AC working more to stablize at 87f. I haven't serviced the AC yet but that's my first suspect. But, time and cycles are definately taking it's toll.

I am still amazed every time I get in the FEH and head out, best little rig I've had. Read it can be made into a home generator, might have to look at that when the battery goes. Probably overkill, but it's paid off anyway.

 

Very easy. Simply hook up a 1500W inverter to the 12V and start the vehicle. ICE will cycle on and off as the HV system keeps the 12V charged.

 

Simple is good, real good. So the HV has to have some life for the FEH to work as a generator or just hooked up so the computers could access it? In other words what if the HV was toast and home generator was the second breath of life for the ICE and hybrid components?

 

As long as the HV battery is good enough to start the ICE, then it will work.... very inefficient, but it will work.

330,000 miles is impressive. Mine had 199,897 when I had to trade it in due to rust and the inability to pass state inspection. Had no mechanical issues other than the HVB was not holding a charge well. Aging battery pack needed to be replaced. You must live where rust is not an issue.

 

so was the battery throwing on a "check engine light"; was that the reason you could not pass state inspection

 

Rust, bottom up and inside out was the issue(s) why it flunked state inspection. The HVB state of charge would drop below 30% if not driven in two days and even lower if it sat longer. Took awhile for it to regain the 40-53% range.

unless something sits and water accumulates in it.

 

Interesting, that's the condition my 2007 HV battery is in now. 28% seems to be the bottom so far, no matter how long it sits. I would have expected to see some codes with a deteriorating HV battery but none so far.

I contacted www.greentecauto.com about a rebuilt battery, and asked for details on the warranty. The warranty only applies if a code is displayed relating to the HV battery, so a degraded condition like I have now is not covered by warranty even if it occurs within 12 months.
