THE Air and Oil Filter Thread

Re: THE Air and Oil Filter Thread
It probably is the little door in the back battery vent, I can hear it flapping
open and close when the car is shut off. It was repaired (supposedly) under
warranty before, but at 60K I don't have that option, and don't really want to pay the dealer to reset it. I will just continue to change the filter regularly and try to make sure there is no gunk down there. We took a few road
trips in the dirt in the past few years, and even with the 2WD had no
clearance or traction problems.
FYI-If someone invents a "generic" filter that sells for under $20 they can
make some money!

Gpsman1 actually cutdown a K + N filter to fit this location for use as a permanent filter. Search hard enough, you will find this thread from 2007 or 2008.

Re: THE Air and Oil Filter Thread
Installed a FRAM CF10137 (FreshBreeze) cabin air filter in my 02 Escape last night. It has the Arm & Hammer baking soda and charcoal in the filter, so the filter material is a gray color rather than brite-white (will make it more difficult to judge from a visual).
The filter has a foam trim around the bottom, and fits like a glove. We'll see how it works in reducing smells coming in from the outside....

Re: THE Air and Oil Filter Thread
They don't have transmissions (at least not in the conventional sense). They use a power split device that has 2 motor generators and a planetary gear arrangement.

Re: THE Air and Oil Filter Thread
Me again...HELP. My stupid SERVICE ENGINE SOON and wrench light
keep coming on! I changed the little battery filter (again $35!) I had an
oil change at 59K- I am wondering if the car thinks
it should have something at 60K it didn't get. I don't have a NAV
system, and no "code" showing in the little diagnostic box. If I take it
to the dealer they will charge me $175 to test it and tell me nothing is wrong
(that's what they did two summers ago). Is there something I can check,
reset, WHAT!

Transmission level check
There is a drain plug on the bottom center, and a fill plug on the side. Check level by pulling the fill plug and the level should be just below the fill plug opening. Do this on level ground.

Re: THE Air and Oil Filter Thread
Have you checked the maintenance section of your Owners Manual? If there's an oil change instruction in there, there would likely be an explanation of the reset as well.
