It is not a CD changer, but since it will play a disc of mp3 files, you can fit more songs on a single CD than all the changer disc's combined.

That being true... should you feel the need... from their website it looks like that head unit will drive their CH3083 8 disc changer. (along with a Sirus radio tuner and an HD radio tuner, and even a second monitor for the back seat area if you can find a place to mount it.)

I have an old Eclipse unit from the 90's that I used to have in my Ford Probe. They made good gear even back then.

I know there is a CD changer available, but I don't really need it when I can fit so many songs on one CD in mp3 format.

As far as the rear DVD, I already have a Pioneer 9 1/2" widescreen DVD player/monitor mounted on the rear ceiling with cordless headphones for my kids. That setup works fantastic.

My info was for the other person in case he didn't wan't to make mp3 CD's. I figured since you bought it you'd know all the options but he would not.

Now, I just bought an 06 FEH & it came with that awful factory NAV setup. I am planning on replacing it shortly with another Eclipse setup(Eclipse is owned by Toyota/Lexus & the units are the same as the Lexus $4000 factory units).

I will lose the Hybrid display(which annoys me), but I can live without that & I am 100% spoiled by my old Eclipse setup(it plays DVD movies, MP3 DV-R disc's, is Sirius ready, has a backup camera & internal high power stereo AMP & an awesome full color 6.5" screen. It uses one DVD disc for the entire USA & the mapping/routing is flawless. Also, the maps can be updated yearly by simply buying one new DVD disc.

John, thanks for the photos. I'm considering doing the same thing you did. How difficult a job is the installation, and can you tell me the colors of the FEH wires that need to connect to the Eclipse wiring harness? (I have some experience with installation and have had my FEH GPS unit out a couple of times, once to install a switch to interrupt the motion signal.)

To me, it wasn't difficult at all but I've had a fair bit of experience doing this kind of stuff. I was an auto mechanic in a car dealership years back & I owned a stereo shop & did high end car installs for a while also.

The opening in the dash has a lip at the top that has to be trimmed off to fit the full double DIN unit it, that's no big deal at all. I clipped it out with a side cutters, a Dremel tool would work well also. The lip doesn't show at all & you could still reinstall the stock radio if necessary.

I don't remember any of the wiring colors, I just figured it out as I did the install(I used a 12v test light for the power, & the speaker leads where simple to figure out).

Can your setup be installed on a FEH that didn't come with the factory nav?

My 05 did not come with factory NAV(my new 06 has factory NAV & I'll probably change it).

How did you mount the dvd? Escapes are currently 1.5din, the dvd is designed for a double din but can squeeze in a 1.5 Did you fabricate the mount from a piece of plastic or fiberglass, or did you find a mounting kit that it worked on.
Thanks
Jeff

There is a lip inside the top of the stock radio opening in the dash. If you remove that lip(which is not visible at all), then a full double DIN unit fits in just fine.

I used part of a dbl DIN kit & one homemade bracket, it was fairly simple actually.

I also managed to fit an Alpine IVA-W200 in my 06 FEH. Just a bit of plastic removal made the opening large enough. Very happy with mine and use the Ipod direct cable which completely eliminates the need for a changer and allows me to listen to audiobooks from Audible.com
