You probably forgot to burn the incense and sacrifice the chicken. =)

I hate it when things are needlessly more complicated than they need to be.

I believe on the '08 models, you can now enable disable autolock and autounlock thru the Message Center. However, the sacrifice chicken, burn incense, pat your head, and rub your belly method is still available too.

Exactly(probably the most annoying feature they have ever added to a vehicle)

Believe me, if there had not been a factory procedure to disable this, I would have figured out my own way to do it......

Its always amusing how some people hate something and others don't. I happen to like the autolock and don't care if it unlocks because when I pull the handle my door comes open anyway. Pushing a button to unlock and open the back doesn't seem that difficult for the number of times I do it.

The idea is that when you go down the road your doors are supposed to be locked for safety (both to supposedly reduce the chances it will pop open in an accident--I'm not exactly convinced it makes much of a difference there) and to prevent some carjacker/roadrager from ripping open a door to get at you.

The good news is there is a way to disable it so each can have it their way.

I am cool with the front doors because it opens but I never remember the passenger doors and every passenger I have ever had complains.

I agree Tim. I drive through some neighborhoods where you definitely want your doors locked. It's nice that it does it automatically for me when I start out. But, if it didn't have the feature that wouldn't be a big deal either... I would just make locking the doors one of the things I do during my pre-flight checklist.

Me too, and that's why I wish I had auto unlock too.

I stop my hybrid, put it in Park, turn off the engine, and open my driver's door. No problem.

I then turn around to open the the rear door from the outside to get my kid out of his childseat.

Ah, oh. The rear door is still locked.

I guess not having to manually lock them gets me into the mind-set of not remembering to manually unlocking them.

Heck I had forgot about that, I hate it when I close the drivers door then find out I have to open it again to get into the back. Another reason I need/want to disable it.

Or walk all the way around the passenger side to retrieve a bag of groceries & find the **** door locked(when you know you DIDN'T lock it)

I HATE that feature, if I want all the doors locked it's simple enough to reach down & flick the switch -I definitely don't need the vehicle making the decision for me.........
