Son Of A !#$&^ I tried it 5-6 more times and all the beeps and honks say it worked but as soon as I move lock they go.
I think I am going to take mine to the dealer and ask them to do it that way if it doesn't work I can say "HA!, something is broke" and if it does I can say "Thanks is that written down somewhere so someone could do it at home"

You guys rock! Thanks! The fact that the autolock feature locks all the doors when you start rolling but doesn't unlock them again when you park--well, compared to our former car, Cadillac SRX, this "feature" was unquestionably the most aggravating aspect of driving the FEH. We asked our dealer if anything could be done to disable this "feature," and the dealer told us no, we were stuck with it. Here I find this post, and fourteen months later, I disable the feature in two minutes. I'm doing the happy dance today. Thanks.

I've participated in a lot of automotive forums over the years, and I have to say GreenHybrid users are the very best at using the search feature. Well done Wheeler!

I haven't been to the dealer like I said I was going to and I cannot disable mine still. It is the only thing I can honestly say I HATE about the FEH and to add insult to injury I cannot disable it

Clif, first thought... this messed me up the first time I tried and it didn't work. When the instructions say Position 3 with the ignition key, do not start the car, just turn the key to run before engaging the starter. Is that how you're doing it?

I wager you are doing some step a little differently. Send me a private message with your email address and I'll send you my cell phone number. We'll sit in the cars simultaneously and walk thru the step and I bet you breakfast it will work.

Cheers from wheeler

LOL, at least you found it now.......

I had that asinine "feature" disabled five minutes after I bought mine (I already knew how to do it ahead of time thank god)

asinine "feature"
You're being way too kind to call it an asinine feature, John. Don't get me started. I've been cursing that feature and then hitting my forehead with a Homer Simpson "Doh!" for fourteen months. Why, I had *almost* trained myself to press the unlock door button every freakin' time I exit the vehicle!

Beautiful mods to your truck, John. Thanks for sharing.

LOL, it's hard to imagine anything more annoying.

I work in the IT dept of a local car dealership now, but I was a mechanic for years. Believe me, if there had not been a factory approved way to turn off that "feature" I would have figured one out on my own -I don't care if I had to rewire half the truck.........

How annoying is it when you walk all the way around the other side of the truck to retrieve a bag of groceries & when you get there the door is locked???????? (& YOU didn't lock it)

So if I'm reading this right, the Ford auto lock doesn't unlock the doors in any situation? On my Avalanche, auto lock behaves similarly to lock the doors, ie once in motion it locks them. However, it does unlock the doors as well, and you can control that behavior. I have mine set to unlock at key-out, as I don't want it to unlock just because I put it in park. I may very well stop beside the road somewhere to check something, make a phone call or whatever, and if I'm in a questionable neighborhood, I don't want the doors unlocking just because I go to park. Although, that is an option on the Avalanche if you so desire.

One consideration, the front door handles on the Avalanche do not override the lock, ie, if the door is locked, the handles won't open the door. Maybe that "feature" is a factor in deciding whether a system provides unlock as well or not.
