FEH Not selling?

Default FEH Not selling?

I was recently at the Ford dealer to have them install the passenger side grab handle from the 2010 into my 2008. Anyway, while there I spoke with a salesman. He said they can't sell the FEH - it costs a lot and there are no rebates.

They had exactly 4 in stock - and this is the largest Ford dealer in the country. When I bought mine in 2008, they had over 40.

They also have 73 FFH on the lot - again, can't be sold because they have no rebates. But at least there is stock to sell.

I'm also wondering if Ford isn't diverting batteries to the FFH over the FEH.

Anyone have some recent sales figures?

No surprise, look for resale value in black book or blue book... pennies
And look for price of maintenance and spare parts, all economy on fuel accumulated for years washed out in first visit to dealerships for repair after warranty expired.

Looks like sales are pretty stationary (June 2009 vs June 2010).

Now I expect July figures to be less even since July 2009 was the first C4C month.

If it hadn't been for the rebate we wouldn't have bought our '06. It's not been a bad car, but I don't see us replacing it with another hybrid. It just doesn't make dollars and cents sense.

So it would appear that one of every 15 Escapes sold is a hybrid. Does anyone know how many FEH are produced and how many conventional Escapes are produced?

My June issue of @Ford shows 2010 sales to date as the Escape at 83,440.

For American cars generally, it is smarter to buy used. They tend to collapse in value compared to foreign cars (fairly or otherwise). I bought my 2009 4WD FEH with about 15,000 miles and saved around $12,000 when compared to a new one.

Yeah, I know it is good financially, but I always buy new, and take good care of my vehicles. Even with a carfax one can't be sure of the maintenance.

Of course, it is all moot if you keep the vehicle for a long time.

I agree. The gap between the reality and the perception creates a savings opportunity. As a Ford retiree I have always bought new, but I check both used and new to see what the gap is with a nod to the new for the obvious reasons.
