Life Imitates Art

Re: Life Imitates Art
I was involved in a near head-on collision last month. Fortuneately the 2 of us swerved enough to graze each other. My damage was in the driver side corner of the front bumper extending to the driver's side fender and fender flare. His car ended up with an inpression of my bumper/headlight assembly down the side of his car.
I just got my FEH back last week. The other driver's insurance had to pay for my repairs. At first they used an aftermarket bumper and fender flare pieces. That repair was less than satisfactory. The after market bumper was too big for my front-end. When installed, the passenger side fit together seamlessly. The driver's side was another story. The bumper was pulled in under the fender while the fender flare jutted outward. The insurance adjuster also noted the aftermarket bupter was also buldged/buckled inder the driver's side headlight assmebly.
They ended up ordering the parts from Ford to return my FEH to "pre-loss" condition.
Through my ordeal, I did find out there is nothing really behind the corners of the front bumper as well (as was mentioned earlier). The front bumper bolts/clips to the fender in the wheel housing and then bolts to the front right around the grill under the hood.
Good luck with your repairs... And don't be afraid to not accept the vehicle after the repair is completed if you are unhappy with it. That was why it took so long for my repairs.

Thanks for all the information and sound advice, everyone. We sincerely appreciate it. I've been sharing these posts with my husband, since he's the one who will be taking the vehicle in for damage assessment and any necessary repairs.

My FEH is going in on Monday for a look-see at our preferred Ford dealership (across town, but worth the drive). Depending on how they bill it, the guy that hit us may get off easy at least on the high voltage battery inspection, since the vehicle will also be getting the non-recall recall work (Ford's euphemistically named "Customer Satisfaction Program") done which I understand involves pulling the HVB up and out, also.
