Default Stop safely message

I get the stop safely message and the red triangle. Will it be ok to drive it 10 miles to the dealer or should I have it towed? What's annoying is that before it was the wrench and service soon message once in awhile. I took it to the dealer for the 50K service and told them about the message. They said it would $100+ to check the message and to wait. Now I need to go through this headache.

Can you try using a scanguage or similiar code reader or even taking to the local auto parts store in an attempt to see if you can pull the "code"? Some auto parts stores will do this for free.
Does you vehicle have all the previous TSB or recall work done?
Good luck.

It was in two crashes so far. The first a few years back and the second a few weeks back. After it came back from the shop, I had the dealer look it over just to be sure everything was OK. They said everything looked fine. The GM dealer I go to, it's free to read the code as long as you have them do the work too.

What year is your vehicle? I have a gut feeling yours is the 1st generation (05-07) and does your vehicle have the September 07 hybrid battery harness recall work done? The GM dealer is going to be unable to read the Ford Hybrid information.

There's been other "stop safely" topics. Have you read them?

I believe there was part numbers posted for issues similar to this, mostly relays that are easy to replace and much cheaper than hours of diagnosing a problem that appears only intermittently.

It's a 06 model. I believe I did have the recall work done, I'll have them look at it. I wasn't planning on taking it to the GM dealer just pointing out how ridiculous it's to charge $102 just to read the code.

I was concerned that the problem might be a result of the crash. Also I wanted to be sure that driving would be ok with that message. Last time I turned it on, the message didn't come on.

Got the car back from the dealer. They replaced the Throttle body. Not quite sure what that is or what it does.

Did your "bill" detail any "codes"? I hope this repair ends any issues you may have had.

No they didn't say what the codes were. They didn't charge the $102 either since it was under warranty, I just paid the deductible of $50. Glad I went for the extended warranty, I'm just past 50K.
