Post Electrical Problems

My 3 month old Vue Hybrid displayed its 12 volt battery warning light and died after idleing for 10 minutes. Turn the key and tick tick only. After sitting for two hours, it started right up but again displayed the battery warning light. It now sits in the service dept. while they await shipment of special insulating gloves before they can work on it. Can you believe that they would sell these cars and not have the proper insulating gloves to work on them? Sounds like a basic necessity to me. I have no idea what wrong yet. I will keep you posted. Any similar experience out there?
Oh yes, after 500 miles I was getting 22.7 mpg city. Andy

Special insulating gloves???? WTF? That's insane. How hard is it to disconnect the 36 v pack and just move it out of the way?

I too had electrical problems in the first week. Turn key - nothing happened - dead. Luckily at the dealership when this happened. Turned out to be poor quality connections. After 4000 miles, overall 23.1 MPG, true suburban city, below 20, which sucks.

Are you recording your mileage here? Would be useful - mine is under OurGL. Tank notes for every fill. I'm finding this really ought to be rated 20/28.

27/32 is a crock.

That's EPA for you. Their testing procedures are unrealistic. Still, the regular Vue is rated 20/28 and you can bet you won't actually get 20 mpg in city driving with it!

As for the 27/32 being a crock, I guess I am the exception to the rule. I am right on the mark. Hopefully, my good gas mileage will continue - knock on wood.

I would personally love to drive the Saturn Hybrid Vue's that are averaging in the low to mid 20's to see if my driving would yield better results.

One note - I did have cruise control problems that took three trips to the dealer, two weeks and a dead battery to fix. Seems like the electrical issues are fairly common in the Saturn's. I have read posts from cruise control issues, to brake lights staying on, to daylights not turning on, to doors not unlocking and the like. Hopefully, your issues will be able to be resolved.

yep..my battery warning light went on..funny how there's only one warning light for the regular battery and hybrid battery..

anyways...when the light went on...hybrid system stopped...restarted car..then check engine went on....after a few hours..and a few restarts..check engine went on...hybrid came back...this repeated a few days later....called saturn..brought it in...

they said it's happened elsewhere..some module for the hybrid but it has to be shipped from U.S...i'm in canada...it's been a week....don't they use FEDEX...lol..they gave me loaner as something worse could damage hybrid system...

so what was the fix for yours?
