What Gas Mileage Are You Getting With Your Vue?

Re: What Gas Mileage Are You Getting With Your Vue?
Howdy folks:
My wife got a 2007 Vue Hybrid and we have taken it back to the dealers 4 times complaining of the terrible gas mileage it gets. The best we ever did was 24MPG and that is doing 85 on the highway. Typical city mileage has been around 17 to 18, and we don't do much hwy driving so I really can't give you any numbers for that. Dealer had the car test driving it and it did about the same. Mind you we log every thank, and even when I drive the car the mileage is still the pits. I've even pumped up the tires to make them harder and it still does not make any difference.
I'm not new to hybrids as I have a 05 civic hybrid that gets me around 44mpg. To add insult to injury, the dealer in the last test drive crashed the vehicle with airbag deployment (not their fault, some moron ran a stop sign).
My wife is fighting with Saturn now since we wanted to lemon law the car anyway given the terrible performance in terms of gas mileage.
I'm happy to see that many of you get numbers that I was estimating from the EPA sticker on the vehicle. I guess we just got bad luck with a bad one.

Re: What Gas Mileage Are You Getting With Your Vue?
Do you have your numbers posted here yet?
Our's isn't doing much better and we've had it out of our hands for over a month as they tried to test it out. No great revelations. Basically it seems they don't work well on short trip suburban conditions try as we might. Check out our numbers -better on long distance but that's nothing to do with the hybrid.
Bottom line is I don't think we get much fuel saving but the system does work to make a 4 cyl seem much more peppy on takeoff.

BTW, the crash was a very minor side impact on the rear passenger lower rocker panel and both side air bags deployed destroying the liner. Major repair and I don't think they would ever get it right again.

Re: What Gas Mileage Are You Getting With Your Vue?
We have two Vues, a 2007 Hybrid and a 2006 4 cylinder. We have been keeping an exhaustive spreadsheet on our fuel consumption. Here are a few results from the spreadsheets. Please note that the weather in our area has been extremely snowy and cold compared to normal often with daytime highs of around 10 F. Top mileage was achieved after an extended highway run during the summer months. Both Vues live outdoors and the 2006 is used 98% city driving while the Hybrid has a 50%/50% mix of highway/city. The fuel costs per mile are based on an average gas price in our area of about $3.78 per US Gallon ($1.00/litre).
Hybrid........4 Cylinder
Vue............2006 Vue
=========================
25.................20 September 10 (USMPG)
22.4..............14 November 7 (USMPG)
22.3..............15.3 December 15 (USMPG)
18.6..............12 January 30 (USMPG)
33.1.............32.7 Top Mileage to date. (USMPG)
$0.1667........$0.2321 Fuel cost per mile (Imperial Gallons)
Obviously, we tend to use the Hybrid more than the standard Vue and that is reflected in the fact that the Greenline now has double the mileage of the standard even though the latter is 10 months older. :-) Please remember that government tests/ratings are often conducted under ideal conditions. Real world mileage will vary with climate and terrain. Hope this sheds a bit of light.

Re: What Gas Mileage Are You Getting With Your Vue?
I thought that I just HAD to share this with the group. We just completed an almost 350 mile return trip after our topping off the tank yesterday. Average speed on the 95% highway run was 120 Km/hr (72 miles per hour). When we got home curiosity got the better of me and I had to fill up to see what the mileage was. I used our regular spread sheet and was so floored by the result that I created a second spreadsheet with a different programme and with more decimal places for the conversions. I was soooo sceptical that I sat down with paper pen and an old hand calculator to check that I didn't somehow goof up.
The results:
Old Spreadsheet-.... 43.364 MPG(Imp) or 36.108 MPG(US) or 6.514 L/100Km
New Spreadsheet-... 43.563....................36.270.................. 6.484
The hand calculations pretty much mirrored the numbers from the second spreadsheet with the longer conversion factors.
ZOWIE, Yippeeee!!!!

Re: What Gas Mileage Are You Getting With Your Vue?
That should definately help your overall average.
Now all you need to do is string a bunch of those stellar tanks together.
By the way here are some Saturn Hybrid Vue records to aim for....
Saturn Hybrid Vue Records (for the 2007 Model) -
Cold Weather MPG (November 1 - February 28) – 30.73 mpg – 15,555 Miles
Warm Weather MPG (March 1 - October 31) – 32.89 mpg – 30,570 Miles
18 Months of ownership – 46,090 Miles - 103 Fillups – Lifetime Avg 32.129 mpg.
Even with Gas at $3.979 per gallon my gas costs are only ~12 cents per mile.
Keep on logging those miles and here's too even better mpgs this summer.

- Best Tank over 200 miles - 37.24mpg – Saturn Hybrid Vue
- Farthest on a single tank without running out of gas: 561.9 miles – Saturn Hybrid Vue(I never overfill the tank.)
- Most tanks in a row at 30mpg or better – 31 Tanks – Smokey – John (I currently have 27 in a row)
- Most tanks in a row at 32mpg or better – 14 Tanks – Saturn Hybrid Vue – (Current)
- 88 out of the 103 tanks have averaged over 30mpg.
