Re: Which acceleration is better for FE for FEH/MMH?

There is so much non-factual information in this discussion it needs to be corrected.
1. Peak torque is NOT at WOT, peak power is at WOT. Gary, in post 22 of this thread provided a curve that shows...

Re: FEH/MMH "CVT"...

Rather than think of it a a diferential it is easier to understand it as a power split, or "integrater", blending the power of the ICE, generator and motor.

Thanks for the nice thought, but my wife now drives the AWD and I now have a FWD.

Re: Fuel gauge on FEH inaccurate

My experience is like Ray's in that it seems predictable at fill-up and empty, and unpredictable in between. Right now I am getting around 41 mpg (computed) and when I fill-up, it's estimating a...

Re: The Low Gear Advantage

John:

Like Gary, I don’t understand why you are being stubborn on the “Neutral” issue. Gary has done a good job of laying out the facts again here, as well as before on CleanMPG.

Short of...

Re: The Low Gear Advantage

Gary has discussed this over at CleanMPG. He seems to have had some success. I do not have a ScanGauge, so to the accuracy of the Nav system, I am not seeing a significant improvement in fuel economy...

Re: The Low Gear Advantage

I furnished Gary with two patent citations addressing this issue. The first patent shows that in "N" the drive system is disconnected from the wheels for a variety of reasons including towing and to...

Re: 40 mph on EV!

The “Fake Shift” (FS) was developed by GaryG to rapidly recharge the high voltage battery when its state of charge (SoC) is very low. He found that:
1. When the SoC is very low, the battery will...

Re: Hybrid/Nav radio on ebay

From what I have heard, if you didn't order the Nav system from the factory, there is a different wiring harness used that goes to the information center instead.

Re: Factory restriction on the Hybrid system???

If you go back to some of the discussions on the "Dearborn Experience...", the Ford engineers claim the FEH does not learn a particular driver's style, but it does learn how to optimize that...

Re: Mariner and FEH Navigation/GPS

Phillip:

In the 2006, the second button from the right that is blank in '05 is the button to turn on/off the back-up sensor's beeper.

Re: ICE horsepower and torque curves

If you can get a copy of Design News magazine (03.20.06 issue), there is an article on Tom Watson, engineer of the year. Page 86 of the article has the graph you are looking for. (Unfortunately, you...

Re: Who's modding their hybrids?

Sorry about the typo, it is, as you say, dt = A6E9. The build date is 11/11/2005 for an '06. My '05 was totalled when someone made an illegal left turn and hit me head-on on a two lane road. Replaced...

Re: Who's modding their hybrids?

Phil and John:
I don't know if this helps, but my display reads dt A6G9 (decimal=42729) and the lower right of the window sticker reads 11/11/05 (build date or ship date?).

Re: Who's modding their hybrids?

John:

I can support what you are saying about "tweaks."

In the '05, when you let off the gas there is a tendency to do some regeneration, and thus you have to slightly depress the pedal to...

You might want to check the glove box(es) to see if they put it there or with your paper work. Otherwise, I would ask them to get you a copy. It lists the options that were installed on your car,...

The data in post #35 is interesting, but is missing FE data from the scangauge. Could you repeat with the FE measurement? The reason I ask is that the difference I see between “D”/coast/no...

Brandon is pretty much right. While there is no significant energy difference in the different octane ratings of gasoline, it does effect the chemistry of the combustion process. The higher octane...
