Re: 2009 FEH not going into reverse

In the meantime, keep an eye on the SoC when the car has been sitting overnight or longer. Self-discharge problems showed up for me when I parked at 52% and returned 12 hours later to find SoC at...

Re: 2009 FEH not going into reverse

Can you recreate the scenario where it won't move in reverse while you monitor the SoC? I would see the rpm's increase while the SoC would rapidly fall below 20%. The electric only reverse pretty...

Re: 2009 FEH not going into reverse

Your SoC number is too high, should be about 50%, I think it's called "BSOC" in Forscan, be sure that is what you are reading.

Re: 2009 FEH not going into reverse

I experienced a similar problem when my OEM hybrid battery was failing on my '07. Reverse is electric only, no direct connection to ICE, so the HV battery must be able to handle the load or ICE will...

Re: 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid won’t start ($100 to whoever gives me the right solution)

What happened with the clamp-on ammeter? Did the current from the 12v battery increase when you pushed the jump-start button?

I don't know your overall situation, but another way out of this...

Re: 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid won’t start ($100 to whoever gives me the right solution)

The only code I'm unfamiliar with is the first one, P1260-FF. All of the others including the ABS are exactly what you see when a HV battery gets too low. I saw those same codes many times when my HV...

Re: 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid won’t start ($100 to whoever gives me the right solution)

The Forscan Android app will do everything you need at this point, skip the laptop.
The Rebalance function has nothing to do with this problem, maybe later when you get it running.
In the Forscan...

Re: 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid won’t start ($100 to whoever gives me the right solution)

One simple test to try, put an ammeter on the 12v battery and press the jump start button. I see 25A out of the 12v battery when it's jumping the HV battery. I used a clamp-on ammeter so it takes...

Re: Greentec Auto battery woes

Hi Nash, sorry to hear about the battery problems. I have the same 36mo battery from Greentec, installed about 3 weeks ago. I'm having no issues at all with this battery so far. This battery was a...

Re: Onboard charger question

I had to go through a number of HV jump starts to keep my old battery alive. A clamp-on ammeter reads 25A out of the 12v battery when the jump start is engaged. Just another data point.

Re: Codes on all 4 coils with no end in sight

Years ago someone (GaryG or DesertDog?) recommended carrying a spare relay since most were the exact same PN. I bought one at the dealer and have keep it in the car but never had the chance to swap...

Re: Codes on all 4 coils with no end in sight

Good news! How did you troubleshoot the problem down to the relay, just trial & error?

Re: HV Battery Discharging

That's an interesting theory but my feeling is that the current draw isn't continuous. I have seen a 20% SoC drop occur within six hours, but it sometimes takes several days before coming off of 52%....

Re: HV Battery Discharging

Just found out that SoC defaults to 0.0 anytime the service disconnect is open, so I didn't really read SoC at the end of the procedure which invalidates my test. However, the HV battery voltage is...

Re: HV Battery Discharging

UPDATE: I followed the procedure above, but I had to allow additional time as I was away from home on a trip.
The FEH was stored with SoC = 50.0% (TBV = 336, BTM = 77.0). I returned to find S0C =...

Re: HV Battery Discharging

Just to add some info on the Scangauge, if HV is disconnected at the battery, The SG will not turn itself ON when the key is turned. It requires a manual button push to activate the display. That's...

Re: HV Battery Discharging

It seemed unlikely to me that a different battery would be in exactly the same state of decay as my original battery, that's all. The new battery has corrected all the problems with the original...

Re: HV Battery Discharging

Steve,
What I understand from your post is that my low SoC events (20% drop) are almost certainly internal to the battery. But that would mean my "new" Greentec battery is having exactly the same...

Re: HV Battery Discharging

Alex, it might be worthwhile to record HV battery voltage along with the SoC. I'm now seeing that when my SoC drops to 30% the battery voltage remains at about 337v, I would have expected voltage to...

Re: HV Battery Discharging

I had the battery load tested today, tested good.

The Scangauge not turning ON with the ignition key has been a reliable predictor of low SoC, even though the underhood battery is at 12.7v. I...

Re: HV Battery Discharging

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Steve, I understand that SoC can be mushy, but I hear the engine and MG laboring to recharge the battery following the low SoC events.
Also following low SoC the...

HV Battery Discharging

S Keith Hi guys,

Background: 2007 FEH, 100k miles, no codes or known issues. I wanted another year of reliable service so I had the 100k mile inspection/service performed and replaced the battery...

Re: Car runs but no electrical power?

I've got 98k on my 2007. Except for the failing HV battery it's just needed filters & oil changes.

Re: 2009 FEH P0A7C Electronics over temperature

Are you monitoring MeT (motor electronics temperature)? When my MECS pump was going out I could see the MeT rising on the Scangauge as I was driving and knew that shutdown was imminent. MeT is a good...

Re: Need to check SoC on 2009 FEH

That's an end of life battery IMO. My '07 battery is in that condition now.
