Re: Looking for 120vAC to 24vDC converter for HV battery heater

I'm a bit late to this party, but for the first time in the almost nine years we've owned our 2006 FEH it's been parked outside for the winter. Lows this year have been in the negative double digits,...

Re: Full Size Spare on FEH

When I weighed the donut last summer I got 33 lbs on my analog scale. The full-sized spare weighed 50 lbs (stock rim, Eco-Plus tire and TPS).

Re: "Stop Safely Now"

I had a similar occurrence on Thanksgiving when I was leaving a friend's house. I started to leave the driveway when my wife remembered that we'd left something, so I quickly stopped the vehicle and...

Re: tpms

The sensors have to be "trained" which is outlined in the service manual. I had it done when I had a TPMS module installed in my full-sized spare. The ignition switch must be cycled from OFF to RUN...

Re: DVD Player / Nav System Question

An earlier thread addressed some users' attempts to put a switch in the speed sensor cable to fool the unit into thinking you were stopped. I've found that once you've entered a destination, it...

Re: Big G's '05 FEH Needs Roadside Assist

Gary,

I'm pretty sure that I did not shut down the ICE after backing up. I tend to stick with the "If it's working, don't mess with it" school of mechanics. I did let it idle for several minutes...

Re: Big G's '05 FEH Needs Roadside Assist

I'm very interested in the outcome here. Several days ago my 2006 FEH with 8800 miles stopped and displayed the Stop Safely Now message when my family began our trip back from Timbuktu for...

Re: Defrost = Air Conditioning = ICE on

The short answer is "no". Ford, like many, if not most manufacturers has set the AC to run anytime the defrost is used as indicated by the red color of the defrost icon. This dehumidifies the air and...

Re: Factory Install Nav. Not Bad

The second picture is definitely the back of the head unit, with the nylon slider that allows the unit to slip into the dash. It looks just like the back of the radio from my '98 Explorer.

I...

Re: Ford to Recall 6,000 Escape Hybrid SUVs

I believe the production runs for '05 and '06 were supposed to be about 20,000 vehicles each. That averages out to ~ 800 per state (although they weren't distributed evenly, the coasts got the bulk...

Re: Tire Pressure Monitoring System

I bought a sensor for my full-sized spare, anticipating that I would use it in a five-wheel rotation. You have to buy two parts-the sensor, which is about $60; and the bracket, which runs another $55...

Re: Purchasing 07 Escape soon

Check with your and your wife's employers to see if you qualify for the X-plan. That can knock a couple of thousand off of the price. Friends and relatives who qualify for the X-plan can also get you...

The Navteq site sells updates for the 2005 set for $199, so I wouldn't expect any charity from them when the next update is published.

Re: Anyone have an extra set of Factory tires in the Northeast?

Elaine,

FYI, your local Goodyear dealer might be willing to sell you a road-hazard protection package for your tires, based on the replacement price. I cost me $12.95 a tire when I got it for my...

Re: Anyone have an extra set of Factory tires in the Northeast?

I just stopped by my local dealer to look at a 2007 on the lot. It had the Eco Plus tires. It wasn't on the lot two weeks ago, so I'm assuming it's a recent build.

Re: Towing a Ford Escape behind motorhome

Re: Towing a Ford Escape behind motorhome

There is a section of the owner's manual that concerns "recreational towing". I don't have my owners' manual in front of me, but I believe it describes how to tow the vehicle in those circumstances.
