Default Anyone paying less than MSRP for Camry Hybrids in 2007?

Looking to buy a new Camry Hybrid. Just wondering what the market for them looks like these days. We're in Colorado and hybrids of all makes and models are all over the place here. Demand is hot, but supply seems to generally be keeping up. Toyota dealer in Boulder is not dealing on the Camry Hybrid - MSRP is the deal. And, no help on trade with 4 months remaining on a Pontiac lease.

We already own an Escape Hybrid (and really like it) which we paid sticker for 2 years ago when they first hit the market. So, I'm not shocked at the lack of dealing. But, after having been a member of greenhybrid.com for a long time now, I know well many of you are seeing other deals out there across the country. Would love to hear about them. Thanks!

Nicole, I paid a lot less than MSRP.

Mine, fully loaded (minus only one or two packages), was $31,400. With a little elbow grease I had it down to $29,500 and then was asked what would need to be done to get a sale and I said a price of $28,500 (invoice is $28,200). I then found a $400 dollar college grad rebate and that took it down to $28,100.

Back in October, I was able to get mine under MSRP. I could have done a better deal, but was happy with the saleman who did not screw me around like many others had, so I was willing to pay a bit more for the good customer service.

If I was buying today, I would be looking for about $1000 over invoice give or take a bit.

As you know, when you deal for a car you need to consider the trade, discounts, etc. Here is what I got in Syracuse NY a couple of weeks ago. You can take this or leave it as a baseline for advise.
MSRP according to window sticker: 30, 929.00
What the dealership charged for my starting price: 28, 734.00

I traded in a BEAUTIFUL diesel guzzling F250 4X4 with a KBB trade in value of 23,710. I got 25,000 for the trade in. I went to the dealership expecting to get 24,000; so I earned 1,000 plus what I saved on sales tax. So that would bring the car down to at least 27,734.00, but more realistically with taxes around 26,500. Oh yeah, Toyota Corp gave another 500 dollar discount while I was purchasing, so I paid approximatley 26,000 for a fully loaded TCH, minus factory alarm and remote start (who needs a remote starter on a hybrid?). NOTE: Keep in mind that the dealership is going to earn a couple thousand dollars on my trade, but that's not the point.

So you can use this scenario to calculate a deal in a number of ways. You can try to save the 2200 off of MSRP; You can try to save the 2200 and gain some on a trade (the key to that is you also save A LOT on sales tax); Or you can play the dealers hand, which is they are not making deals on hybrids.
The bottom line is dealers are cutting the prices on hybrids, but you have to go to the dealership prepared. Tell them that you studied the price, and show them you know the features of the car better than they do. Go to more than one dealership to get a quote (you can even do that online or on the phone). That's just my 2 cents. Good luck in your search for a car.

I paid a couple hundred over dealer invoice. MSRP was $30990, dealers invoice was $28050 and I paid $28280. I also traded in my Civic and got KBB for it. The key is to do your homework and be prepared.

When I picked up my TCH the other night the salesman said that he should schedule a training session with me so I could teach him more about the TCH. We kind of laughed about that.

Good luck with your purchase. If you can take possession by 3/31/07 you will be eligable for a $1300 tax credit. After that date it goes down to $650...

Hi, what dealer in Syracuse? I grew up there and am now in Poughkeepsie for job reasons (I love Syracuse a ton more). Did you go to Romano Toyota? That's where I got my used Ranger I am trading in after 6 years. They gave me a really good price on it along with a Toyota Plat. warranty.

I got mine at the new Burdick Toyota location at the automall just off of HWY 81. I was extremely pleased with their staff. Since I actually live about an hour out of Syracuse, I started my purchase by using the price quote thing on the Toyota website for several dealerships. I then went to the dealership that gave the most professional, prompt reply. I'd have to agree that Syracuse is nice though.

I was able to get below MSRP... around $800 - $1000 over invoice. The deal was very convoluted with me trading the Prius and some other business items that came in to play. But at the end of the day, I was happy.

For some reason, there are hybrids sitting on lots all over Cincinnati waiting to be sold. My local dealer has 27 Prius' and 11 TCH.

I got my TCH about three weeks ago up here in Montana for $700 over invoice. Dealer invoice was $25,800, I paid $26,500 with only sunroof, mats, and mirrors extra. Everything else standard was fine with me. I'm sure I could have gotten him lower, but I named a price I was willing to pay without haggling and he took it. If I'd financed through the dealer I would have had the $400 grad rebate, but I didn't. I'm happy with what I paid, and love the car.

I got mine last year in November and ended up paying a lot less than even invoice with employee pricing through my brother. In fact, I was half thinking that the dealership was hoping that my financing would fall through so they could sell it full price to someone else. Dealer still got almost a grand for holding the car for me so they weren't exactly shut out of the deal. All in all, with tax, I ended up paying around $26K for Magnetic Grey TCH with Navi but no moonroof.
