Okay, so my luck ran out. Who's got that statistic? Driving X amount of miles with a Prius is the equivalent of spilling X cups of gasoline?

No, I didn't try and fill my tank as much as I could. I didn't push my limits to get over the 600 miles-on-a-tank mark. I just tried to fill up

Used about 8 gallons. 50.5 MPG and 399 miles. Woohoo. My best yet. Stick the pump in, press. Wait a minute, it popped back up. Pressed. Popped back up. It's like topping off from the very beginning! Gave my hand a nice workout for about 2 gallons. Pressed the "help" button and the guy comes out. Tests it himself, and confirms that my tank and the pump don't go like peas and carrots. Fine, fine. I continue my workout and get to about 6.5 gallons. I hear a gurgle. Gurgle isn't good. Nope. Pulled out the pump. Okay, I pulled out half the tank of gas, too. At least a cup, likely more, gets burped up. Spills down the side of my car and onto the ground. Brilliant. Just brilliant.

And, so, what's that statistic?

On a side note, could this be related to humidity? It was pouring rain at the time.

Jason,
I say dealership time...playing with the fuel system is not something to do.
Cheers,
Steven

I'll be over for the 5k soon anyway. I really don't think there's anything they're gonna do for me, though. If you had a Prius, you'd recognize this as an inevitable result of the "bladder" and low emissions system.

Stevo, have not seen you at EF lately.

Jason, I occasionally have the same problem with my ECHO, mainly at older 7 Eleven stations. I noticed this a lot in the first 5k miles of ownership, not so much anymore (24k miles).

I think an occasional spit-up like this will redo any ill-effects the Prius seeks to resolve. It can't happen again. I could have sworn the pumps looked new, though the guy inside the 7-11 claimed they weren't.
