Default Cold Vehicle, Poor Regen Braking

I have noticed when 2006 HCH is cold, the regen braking seems poor, until the car warms up a bit. Have you noticed the same? Why?

Once the car is a little bit warm, regen. braking works great.

Thanks

What do you mean by "regen braking seems poor"?

That is a conclusion.
What leads you to this conclusion?
What do you actually see?

Do you mean it doesn't regen until you hit the brakes? My 05 is like that until the battery pack warms up ... just a hybrid quirk for battery longevity. Maybe slightly less aggressive regen under braking as well, but I am not sure. Just like I can't coast at 120 mpg on a level road very well until is warms up a bit. I read in another post that the assist will help it warm up quicker in a safer manner than the regen. I am sure more qualified answers to come

Yes I have noticed the same. I find that the EV glide, auto-stop and regen braking do not "kick in" for about 5 minutes sometimes more when the temperature is below freezing.

Cheers.

My '04 HCH shows some of the same characteristices:

When it is cold, going down a steep hill near my house, the charge bars will only go about 2/3 of a full regen charge, when on a warm morning it will easily go full green.

I think it is supposed to be this way until the car warms up, Autostop works the same way.

Thats right, the car must reach operating temperature before the main hybrid functions will work like regen, EV mode and autostop. Assist is limited in this period as well. It is to prevent harm to the mattery and to allow the battery to reach temp. I battery that is too cold or hot will not function properly and if used can shorten the life.

I've also noticed a buzzing sound coming from the pedal-area when the HCH2 is cold and the brake is pressed. Has anyone else noticed this?

p.s. finally achieved a trip > 50mpg!

I've had my HCHII for about 2 months now. The buzzing sound always occurs when I brake and regen. Not sure if it happens only when the car is cold(er) or not. I hear it when I first start my commute.. usually toward the end I'm jamming to music or listening to talk radio, so I don't notice it anymore.

I notice an unpleasant difference in the feel of the brakes for the first few minutes. The first feel is kind of mushy: a lot of pedal travel before stopping. Later the brakes are much more sensitive, with a little pressure on the pedal resulting in a lot of braking... almost too grabby.
The change over happens when I start seeing charge bars when braking.
I read somewhere that there is supposed to be some h/w and s/w to make the feel of the friction brakes and the regen brakes the same.
I wonder if I need a physical adjustment or a s/w upgrade.
BTW: where is the USB port for reflashing the onboard computers?
