Default Help! Some tool at my school scratched my driver side mirrior!

I just received my 2008 Civic Hybrid a week ago for my birthday and as an early graduation present. Today when I was going out to lunch I noticed about a 2 inch hairline scratch across the driver side mirror (the actual mirror, not the plastic around it). Does anyone know how much it costs for the dealership to replace the mirror. I am soo sad.. I just got it a week ago! I know it was at school because when I drove this morning there was nothing there and then when I went to lunch (there is a lunch period before mine) it was there clear as day.

Thanks so much for your help!

Are you sure it is a scratch? It could be a spider web trail?

In anycase, you might try using a mirror polish to see if it can me polished out.

Pricing can be found here:

That really bites, when I was in college someone BROKE OFF my mirror along with the mirrors of several cars around mine. Did you report it to the campus police?

Just be glad they didn't key your paint, replacing the mirror will be much easier.

This doesn't seem like it would be that hard to fix. You may want to try searching around and/or posting on 8thcivic.com. I generally go there for issues like that, and come here for Hybrid issues (which are much more interesting). I would definitely try the scratch remover before replacing the mirror.

PS: Congrats on your new HCH!!

Try the polishing first, that is less costly. And the obsession with wanting the car to be scratch free does not end with college or owning the vehicle one week. Enjoy your new car.

you guys are making me afraid of bringing it to college when I got next year (when I meant school, high school. much more immature people in HS). haha

Thanks for posting that website. ill post there also.
Are you sure you can polish out mirror? I was trying to find a site online that said that but couldn't find one.

Sure, you can use a mirror polish, try the grocery store for this type of polish. Usually found in the chemical section (Dishwashing, laundry, etc.)
