Is the service code 123 a 1 (oil change), 2 (transmission fluid change) and 3 (air filter change).

Or does the 123 mean One hundred twenty three and, if so, what service does it refer to.

 

Your first choice. Oil change,CVT oil change and air filter. Your manual pretty well explains it for you. Hal

 

It should also state A or B service. I believe A is for oil change without filter and B includes filter. Again read your manual. Hal

 

Thanks for the reply Hal. There is no letter before the 123 but, no matter, I always change the filter with the oil anyway.

 

That's odd: with ours there's consistantly an "A" or "B". BTW, all these codes are explained in your Owners Manual.

 

Yeah, I guess it is odd if an "A" or a "B" typically preceeds a number or numbers but I've had numeric codes appear on three occasions so far that have never been preceeded by a letter.

The vehicle is a 2009 HCH with approximately 30,000 miles.

BTW, I did refer to my manual to reference the codes but wasn't sure if I should read the number as 123 or as numbers 1, 2, & 3. I do realize that the manual makes reference to single digit numbers but, since I've never had more than one single digit number previously, I just wanted to make certain that the 123 code wasn't one that I had to call the dealer about.

 

It sounds like the 2009 is different from the 2006 to 8 models. I wonder if a oil filter is used at every oil change? If so, that is another savings down the tube, or has Honda gone to a poor quality filter! Hal

 

I was overbearing in my read the manual comment, sorry for that.

Regarding oil filters at every change, I doubt Honda has changed policy, but this is something all dealerships in our area push, and it's been that way since the '80's. The last time I got an oil change through the dealership and ask them to stick to the letter of "A" service (oil change only, no filter change), I had to practically argue with them, and they made a point of noting in the bill that the new oil was not as "clean" as it could be due to...

Between that and their insistance in putting in 4 liters when the spec is 3.2, I started doing my own.

BTW, Harold had a good idea for a comprise: remove, drain and re-install the filter at service A, discard at service B.
