Default Break in process

Hi all: Just a question, I will be going on a family vacation in a couple weeks, by then i should be in my new 05 Prius. The trip will be about 3 1/2 hours drive on the hyway, is this bad for a new hybrid to just get it out there on the hyway right away at prob 65 to 70 MPH. thanks.

It doesn't really matter. You'll read all sorts of old wives' tales but the bottom line is basically just to drive it reasonably easy and not race around with it floored all the time. Also you generally want to follow the manufacturer spec for when to do the first oil change since some companies use a different oil for the first fill. Many sports cars like the Corvette, Porsche 911, and others have Mobil 1 from the first fill, but some cars use a heavy weight conventional oil with tons of moly in it. Some suggest changing the oil as early as 1000 miles, others suggest not changing the oil for at least the first 5000 miles. Bottom line is basically just drive it like a normal car and change the oil whenever the manual suggests, which is likely at 3k or 5k miles.
