Default how often should you replace oil?

how often do you guys change your oil in your FEH?
in the manual in my 08 it says every 10,000 miles but that seems a bit much.
i usually replace the oil in all other cars in about 4000.
did some research and there are a-lot of people who say in new engines you don't need to change the oil as often and some people stick to 3-5000 mile oil changes.
who should i listen to?
when do you guys change your oil?

I just follow the Ford recommended 12 months or 10k miles and change when the dash indicator says it's time, Mobil 1. Being a hybrid the engine spends little time idling so the oil has an easy life. At one time I had Blackstone Labs analyze oil samples at 10k and 20k and the oil was still perfectly serviceable when I changed at 20K. Seems to me that reduced maintenance is one of the big advantages of a hybrid.

I have it done every 6 months. That would be about 7000 miles. Last time I noticed the mechanic had put synthetic in it. I don't put enough miles on a car to worry about wearing out the engine, and most of the mileage is highway, so I don't worry about doing it more often. Besides being a hybrid, as was mentioned.

Depends on what you want. If you're a 100,000 miles kind of guy, follow Ford's recommendation.

I use Synthetic, have an automatic pre-lube pump installed, a 1µ bypass oil filter, and an 8µ main filter. I do oil analysis and have never had a sample come back unserviceable even at 30,000 miles.

Still going strong.

I always use Mobil 1.

I always go at least 15,000 miles.
(at 185,000 miles now)

Once I went about 18,000 miles and sent a use oil sample to Blackstone Labs. It was still very clean and had an estimated 20% life left to the oil.
