Default My new 06 MMH with 282k miles

New member here with probably the nicest 06 supper high miles example of these beautiful SUV's. I would have posted in the MMH forum but as it seems dead I will do my posting here. After all a Ford is a Ford. I bought it from the Pull-A-Part used car lot here. Was able to drive her home for $1500 otd taxes and all. I have always been a SAAB guy doing all my own work but when I saw this beauty I just had to have it. In the last few days I have been reading all I can on these and really think I'm going to love working on this. I have already fixed the navigation LCD ( was a white unreadable screen now perfect) and will be repairing the A/C next. The A/C has a bad compressor with bad seal. After that is fixed I should be good to go. Everything else is good. The previous (original) owner in the last two years spent over $10,000 on it. According to the receipts in the glove box. Original almost perfect paint and an interior that looks more like a car with low miles. Looking at the underside it looks like a two year old car with not a scratch or ding. Just a tinny bit of rust starting on the lip of the rear finder which will be taken care of soon. No rust around the shocks or inner finders.
Well, glad to be here and am very thankful for all the info here.

Congrats on your "new" hybrid. Do you know if the HV battery has been changed?

I don't know. I wonder if there is a date code on it somewhere.

So what kind of things did the previous owner spend those 10'000 $'s on?
Looks good your new car, i wish mine looked as nice and mine has only 100K miles.

I was able to contact the original owner and we even met up and he gave me the cargo cover he had in storage. He told me when the AC went out it was the last straw. The price he was quoted to repair was just to much and he and his wife decided that was enough. Its amazing how much money you can save when you can do your own work.

Could you give me any information on why the battery was rebalanced and what exactly he did to it? I am having low assist on mine and the temps of the battery are in the high 60s to mid 70s so I don't think it is heat related at all.

Thanks,

Tyler

Lol, looks like the dealer just scammed them. A rebalance is a long drawn out procedure that definitely doesn't cost a few hundred. The issue looks like it was the fans and the dealer padded the order by saying they did a rebalance. A proper rebalance requires an insane machine to do or about 25 days diy. The cheapest I have seen is like 1300 for a rebalance on the escape.
