Default Rear ended by a full garbage truck

Listen, it is not everyday I can say that I was hit by a truck, a massive 40 ton tank, and walk away from the accident. The accord saved me. The frame took the brunt of the trauma. Why? In front of this particular truck are two iron pegs, roughly 6 inches long. One of the pegs hit and penetrated the bumper on the driver side (I was the driver) whilst I was sitting at a light. Thank goodness this was a huge intersection here in FL, I was catapulted approx 12-15 ft, moving from the left most lane to the middle lane on a 3 lane road.

When you look at the back of the car, it looks trivial, and the estimate just came back at 6700 in repairs. But it has 3 unanswered questions. 1. frame damage has not been assessed, 2. battery damage and 3. I have two massive warnings on the console "Power System Failure" and "Brake System Failure".

I've come to you all to see if I can get more information about the system failures. Are these some kind of fail safes and easy to repair or do you think it'll be costly? I'm trying to do some side research to see if I need to get them to total out the car. The company that hit me serves a few counties out here and they have accepted liability. No one has been able to answer these questions. I don't want my car to be broken if I get her back.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Oh as for me, I'm beat up. But I'm grateful to have walked away with no broken bones. I hurt and I'm stiff as all heck but I'm addressing those issues separately.

I would vigorously pursue getting the car totaled. The fact that an accident has occurred means it's forever going to be worth less than an unmolested one, and an impact with such a massive momentum isn't something to be taken lightly.

I am thinking back to my physics class. Getting hit by a 40-ton truck can cause a lot of damage, but it depends on how fast it was going to your speed vector about the truck.

Personally, if my car received $6,700 of damage. I would realize that is just an initial cost estimate of damage which is a low ball number from an estimator. They normally find other problems when they get into the project which causes more of an issue. In the end, your car may be repaired, but it has a carfax of the accident.

If you were not at fault, you would consider asking the insurance company to buy you out of the car for the value of the car before the accident plus some transaction expenses before starting the repair.
