Whats up with the PHEV kits and promises of cars comming out with them. Chevy anounces the VOLT, then says but the batterys wont be ready for a few years. Ford says they are working on being the first one out with a phev car, someday? Hymotion claimed the kits would be available last fall but they quit e-mailing me about there progress. If toyota has a 80 mpg prius in 2008 will there even be a need for a 30 to 40 mile PHEV ? Does Any one have any info on the progress of any phev kits or cars comming to market???

Hymotion BREM Request Form Here is a request form to fill out if you want to get on a list to get a PHEV Kit. Some think it would cost far less to just wait for a auto mfg to produce the PHEV car and buy that!///JOE

Personally, the money spent on converting a Prius to PHEV is ridiculous. Spend a fraction of that installing solar panels on your house and just carpool more

Solar panels are done 5.25KWhr and I was seriously going to put the Hymotion pack in my Prius when I got a call that a Lexus RX400h was available pre-owned two years old 15,000 miles. I may consider a Hymotion later for this vehicle later on.

Where the heck are you going to put the thing? I read the specs on the Escape's version, and it measures 40x15x14.5 inches - a good chunk of the cargo area. And it weighs 147.5 kg - almost 325 lb! The HiHy's will be significantly larger for the same range, probably near 400 lb., with a serious reduction in load/towing capacity and handling characteristics.

Makes no sense at all to me for a SUV except as a vanity project.

I guess removing the third row seat would be plenty of room and the weight of the seat will offset it a little,Probabley be equal to 1 passenger!!
