Default 2010 Navigation in 2009?

Hey guys, long time no chat.

My navigation died a few months go. Any Nav disc just clicks and pops back out. So, it's time to replace it. My question is this... Will a 2010 Nav unit work in a 2009? If I recall correctly, the 2010 has traffic support.

As an alternative, does anyone have recommendations for aftermarket that look like the OEM unit? I've seen dozens on eBay, but I haven't seen any of them in person. I would love iPhone 5/6 compatibility, and at the very least some type of Pandora support.

Thanks in advance.

Why not just use Waze app?
It's not the same as built in, but it gets the job done

Because Waze depends on data, and when you are in an area with no service you can not navigate.

I need to be able to navigate to remote areas when data coverage is not available. Even more so because I often have to fix cell outages that are causing that "No Service".

So, I need built in navigation that doesn't depend on having data coverage.

Or a Verizon account. Waze is by no means a data hog, but I do get your point.
Yes, there are plenty of choices for replacement that will fit right in. You will lose all vehicle specific data though, previously displayed on the nav display. THAT is the biggest hindrance to not replace the head unit in my case. As I'd really like to have sat nav and all the techno gizmos you can have with the latest and the greatest head units. So I manage with Waze and Knivo BT for music streaming. OEM nav sucks badly anyway.
But here's a thought. You sure it's NOT the DVD itself? Chances of it to go bad are much higher than the HU itself. DVDs do not really appreciate very hot confinement inside that compartment.
