Battery performance in extreme cold

Battery performance in extreme cold
We're going through a severe cold snap (daytime highs below 0°F) here in Ottawa and I need to know how my TCH will perform if left outdoors for extended periods (8+ hours).
Anyone have experience with this situation?
Thanx in advance.

Re: Battery performance in extreme cold
Battery performance in cold weather is getting worse in cold weather when running for short periods of time. If you are running TCH for more then 2 hours battery becomes warmer and cold weather does not effect on the battery. Plus battery cooling system takes warm air from cabin which keeps battery warm even when the trunk is cold.
Concerning your question of outdoor storage of TCH - I think no one can tell you about it, because TCH is rather new model and no one knew how long the battery can last at those conditions. Rumors say it about 3 years, but I think about 8-10 years.

Re: Battery performance in extreme cold
Here in winnipeg it's been -20 to -35 C for the last 5 weeks. We don't have a plug for the car at work so it sits for those 8 hours outside.
I have not noticed any problems with the battery or the ICE starting.
