Replacement tires for 2008 Camry Hybrid
I need to replace original Bridgestone E-30 tires after 14,000 miles (told at 10,000)... which ones would help retain mpg but not be too loud in a climate that has ice/snow over half the year (Rochester, NY)? HELP!

I had a similar experience with the stock Bridgestones. VERY disappointed. I can't speak for snow performance, but I've been very pleased in terms of ride, noise, maintaining MPGs, tread wear with the Sumitomos I put on mine. I was leaning toward Yokohama, but the salesman talked me into the Sumos.

I got 22,000 out of the Crapstones that came on my '08. Replaced them with Uniroyal Long Touring. So far no difference in mileage and seem as quite as any other tire I've ever had.

I'd love to know why people are getting such horrible tread wear out of their tires.
Are you using recommended inflation? Are there any situations with respect to your driving that might lead to such poor life of tire?

If you have that much snow, I would suggest a dedicated set of snow wheels (tires + rims).

They are LRR (good MPG), have great Snow/Ice traction, and are quiet.
They are 50,000 mile tires, can be expensive ($500 for 4 185/65HR15 on my Prius), and can be hard to find locally.
They can be ordered by phone:
http://www.tirefactory.net - Not "*.com" this is a different company.
and installed locally.

I've had my Bridgestones for over 33k miles now, and it's time to replace them. (Especially with a huge nail in one of them, hehe.) But compared with other people's comments, clearly I've done well with mine! But I've been trying to figure out what to get, too.

If you are getting 20,000 miles or more on the Bridgestone E30- YOU are the fortunate exception.
According to my dealership and the Firestone Tire Company I was sent to by Bridgestone to verify the need for replacement, this is a very common complaint for such a soft tire (high performance). Both said that the use of this really inappropriate tire was to increase gas mileage and make a near silent ride. Bridgestone told me they only expect us to get 20,000 at best.
I leased a car so I wouldn't have this kind of expense...particularly on a car I've had for 18 months! I won't buy/lease a car again without checking this kind of expensive product.
Thanks to all those who have responded with awesome alternatives!
