How long can you drive w/o IMA/Battery?

Re: How long can you drive w/o IMA/Battery?
I agree with Ron! There are other places other than Honda that can repair your Pack! And I might add ,will probably do a better job? I have heard some repairs as low as $800. I think I would do is do what you are doing, Keep ON Trucken. Like you say the car is not worth the $6000 repair! I cannot understand why some dealers repair this for $2000 and others want $6000. Hope it keeps running for you for as long as you need it! Hal

The typical numbers are $2700 east coast and $4000 west coast.

Re: How long can you drive w/o IMA/Battery?
I have the IMA light on, I'm going to ride this car out as long as I can. There's no way I'd get any money for a trade in on this car and I'm not going to sell it to someone just to get it off my hands and give them my lemon.

Jeff
As long as the starter battery is being charged you should be able to go for some time. Have you had problems with the car for long? You seem a bit ****** with it, or are you upset with this present failure? Really $2200 is not to much to spend, as you have low mileage and probably many years left in it! A tranny would be much more! Trade it on a new [2009] HCH2?
Cheers,
Hal

And a battery rebuild isn't even half that amount.

All dealer replacement batteries have been refurbished. How long does a rebuild last? Most of the life of a dealer replacement.

I don't know how long you can drive without the IMA battery, but my 2004 HCH with 123k on it is right now getting the battery pack replaced.
The light came on Friday when I was about 5 miles from the dealer where I get my service done, so I just drove right in. The standard warranty is 150k miles, so I'm covered (*whew!!*) No warning, and no noticeable change in driving feel.... except now that I think about it I had noticed that it wouldn't AutoStop all the times that it should have.
I'm hoping the new pack will last me another 120k miles (setting aside other systems that will need to be replaced...) so I can keep going! I love my car and my carpool stickers!
Even so, when my car was about 100k, I checked the value on the various used car websites, and here in CA it's was still work about $10,000!!
