Default Repair Question....

Im really having 2nd thoughts about having my car repaired...is there anyway to by pass the IMA and still charge the 12 volt....thanks

Yes.

Gives instructions on bypass.

You will need a good DC-DC converter. You should be able to pick one up for far less than the dealer wants.

I guess I could have asked you in a pm..since your taking the time to reply, but maybe posted here will help others..how does the 12volt charge without IMA...

There are 4 primary components:

1. IMA motor
2. IMA battery
3. IMA control unit
4. DC-DC converter

As long as 1, 3 and 4 are operable, the IMA system will charge a good 12V battery. There are many who choose to bypass the battery rather than deal with the expense of a replacement battery and/or are not comfortable with DIY solutions.
