Re: 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid Cat Converter
I have an appointment at my local muffler shop on Feb 6th to get my Manifold Cat replaced. They aren't sure of the time requirements until they look at it, then they'll give me a labor estimate. I'll post some picks of the repair.

Re: 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid Cat Converter
Finally got my original Manifold Catalytic Converter replaced with the OEM Magnaflow Cat Part#49735. It is said to be the best one they make. I was getting the P0420 Bank 1 code for close to 3 years. The garage that put it on said it went on quite easy with the bolts and gasket it provided with it. They were nice enough to take some photos also. I did buy an exhaust manifold gasket for $20 also for them to use as a replacement. The only thing they needed were 2 new bolts for the part of the Cat that bolts onto the exhaust pipe. See the pictures attached. The master tech cleared the Check Engine Light codes when they were done. I took the car for a 15 mile ride on the highway and in the city. The CEL came back on 10 miles into the trip so I went to AutoZone to have it checked. The only code that came up was P0A7F. We both know what that one is. As of now I am cured of the P0420 code! Car seems to run and breath a little better too. Enjoy the Pics.

The new Cat did not come with heat shields. The old ones appear to be attached to a few pieces welded to it. I may try to remove it and figure out a way to mount it to the new one. Thought about buying new bolts if I cant get them out. Wonder if Magnaflow had an official answer to give if its needed or not?

Magnaflow got back to me. Glad to hear I don't need to attach the heat shield.

Cole,
The heat shield will not be necessary on this new unit. It is made of a 409 grade stainless steel which is a heat resistant material. In addition, with the additional flow you get with the 400 cell count brick, the unit will not heat up nearly as much as the factory unit.
