Default 40K Oil Change oil-analysis results

Here are the results from the 40K oil drain on my HCHII. I also had an analysis of the oil additive life, and it was still in great shape. It looks like this Mobil1 0-20 could go for 12-15K miles with no problems.

Looks good Gary! I use 3 liters per change. It is so close too full I don't bother with the top up. If it used oil I might top it, but so far so good. Do you use one brand of fuel or whatever is available when you need it? H

In EU the HCH oil change intervals are 20000 km (12430 miles).

I'm going to stop abiding by the maintenance minder for oil changes and just do it every 10k miles. Thanks for the results Gary.

Jess, I agree that 10k should be not problem based on OE's analysis reports, but I suggest you wait until your various ICE warranties are expired before ignoring the MM. Manufacturers love any reason they can get to disqualify a claim.

Now that brings a question to mind. Is the warranty good for 3yrs from the manufacturing date of the car itself or just from the year it was made? We're approaching 2009, but mine was manufactured sometime in the middle of 2006. Seems unfair that my warranty will be void in January if my car hasn't even been around for 3 yrs.

Anyone have any idea?

The warranty period always starts from the day of initial purchase.

Oh, ok, perfect. Then I'm good through the end of October unless I hit 36k first.
Thanks Gary.
