Default Auto Stop?

I have a 2008 HCHII ~600 miles. I've noticed that the Auto Stop actually stops the engine will I'm still moving. When stopping at a light or in traffic, as I'm decelerating, when the speed drops below 6 or 5 mph the engine stops before the car stops. I thought Auto Stop only kicked in when the vehicle stopped. What should the proper operation of Auto Stop be? Everything else seems to be working as expected so I'm not sure this is a bad thing except you have to modulate the brakes a little to have a smooth stop.

The function you describe is how it is designed to work.

The manual says Auto Stop engages when your foot is on the brake and speed drops to 8 mph.

That's how it's supposed to work. You'll find this is a nice feature, sometimes you can coast for quite a long distance once you learn how to get auto-stop to engage. For instance if you are going downhill and know you will be stopping at a red light, you can slow down to below 9mph (when AS engages) and coast up to the light using no gas at all .
