Disabling HCH-II HCH2 IMA
I've seen it addressed for Insights and HCH-I, but not for HCH-II.
Yesterday, I decided to investigate it myself. I tried two configurations that worked:
1) Assembled pack with all sticks removed master switch off
2) Fully assembled pack (sticks included) master switch off
I was discouraged initially because my cigarette lighter voltmeter was showing 11.7-11.8V when idling. However, after researching the disabling methods for the HCH1, it was noted that the IMA system won't charge the battery outside 1500-3800 rpm. Without the battery as part of the system, IMA shuts down outside that range.
Upon revving to 1500+, the voltmeter jumped to 13.8V.
In short, if you need to drive your HCH2 with the IMA system disabled, remove the rear seat, remove the master switch panel and disable the master switch. Install a voltmeter in the cigarette lighter to monitor your 12V battery and try to keep your driving between 1500 and 3800 rpm.
