Default Urgent: Pennsylvania Hybrid/Electric Car Registration Fee Proposed

PA HB 1057 would charge electric (including hybrid electric) vehicles an annual registration fee equal to the average tax paid by owners of car of the same CAFE class.

Please help stop this before it becomes law.

Yes, money is needed to build and maintain roads, but this is the wrong way to do it. Instead of band-aids, every vehicle should be charged fairly based on a reasonable estimate of the wear due to our actual driving.

Wow.

I read the description and it states electric vehicle tax, it didn't specifically mention hybrids.

I realize they will likely want to charge (pun intended) anyone and everyone they can, so likely they will penalize hybrids.

I'm thinking I might contact the bill's prime sponsor and express my concerns.
