Jolt, Lurch, Chug

Re: Jolt, Lurch, Chug
I have been having the same issues that PBRLives described. 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid, 95K, aver 18.5 MPG. I drive it like I drove my patrol cars for years, foot is to the floor whether it is on the brake or the gas.
I have noticed that as I come to a stop and the foot is on the brake, as the motor shuts off, the truck will lurch forward and abruptly slow faster, faster then I had been prior to the lurch.
When leaving a stop, the truck will lurch, like when you were learning to drive a clutch. the truck will hesitate and then accelerate normally.
It does not happen often but enough to scare you when it does. Have never had a code come in, dealership can not replicate, sound familiar?

Ok guys, I guess I just noticed this so called lurch. It doesn't happen all the time. Only inopportune moments. I have figured a way to correct this by preloading the gas pedal by slowing accelerating instead of stomping on the gas pedal when accelerating like making a turn and it doesn't happen at all. Maybe it does only happen during turns? I have believe it or not 174k miles and traveling. I hate all this New York potholes! @FDR drive:/

Re: Jolt, Lurch, Chug
i was cruise control at 75mph when i hit a severely big pothole to jar even the dash and it took me out of cruise, lol. but so far no drivability issues. just saying i feel your pain

Re: Jolt, Lurch, Chug
From my experience it takes a pretty good hit to get knocked out of cruise. That said, it happened a few times this winter.
The larger wheels with less side-wall on the Esky and Denali can get bent easier on pot holes.

Re: Jolt, Lurch, Chug
OK, after having the same jolt, lurch almost stalling at times but not really, the 300V hybrid battery could be the problem? I have 180k miles, yes 180k miles. Short of buying the 300V hybrid battery, I shopped around and they quoted me from $2500 to $3000 installed. the dealers are okay if you buy it direct from gmpartsdirect which sells it at $1900 and shipped directly to the dealer. Labor cost of $450++ thats close to the stated price.
So a quick and cheap fix is in order. I'm suspicious that my 12V battery is getting weak, having replaced it at 49k miles and now at 180k miles. After the 12V battery was replaced by an A/C Delco 42 month professional battery, I noticed the so-called jolt, lurch and almost stalling to be gone. Does it mean that a low and weak 12V battery can cause the same symptom and not necessarily transmission related. One caveat though, your experience may be different from what I had.

Re: Jolt, Lurch, Chug
Hi everyone, it's the '08 Yukon owner with about 115-120K now. Time to give an update, because I've had a related issue.
So, from last time, the small oil leak was due to the oil filter not being tight enough. User error. Also, bit the bullet and recently bought new tires instead of selling. So, go figure I'm here to report a new issue.
The old issue is still there to an extent. Still hesitates at takeoff sometimes, but no where near as bad as it used to be. Usually during TX summer months.
So, now that we just got the "arctic blast" last night, which is 30 degrees for Texans, it was strange that something happened to my wife.
At a stop sign, pushed the gas pedal, and nothing worked. Engine was still running (not in auto-stop mode), no movement, plus the check power steering light came on, and sure enough, she had no power steering, plus no brakes. Basically as if the system shut down. But the engine was running....
Taking it into the dealership tomorrow, and they do freeze frame the data to send to GM, so I might be able to get that info.
Tried quickly scanning for threads at work this morning, but not enough time. All I could find was that my hybrid battery might be going? If anyone has links to power steering issues on GM truck hybrids, please pass them along.
Oh, and of course, once she turned everything off/on, it worked like normal. It's now sitting in our garage and I'm out of a car.
Will let you know what I find out. Any helpful hints in the meantime would be greatly appreciated.
