Hi All, it appears I need a new hybrid battery. 2 questions, any suggestions on where to buy and is it easy to replace or do I have to go to the dealer?

GMpartsdirect has it for about $2000 (plus $1000 refundable core charge)

You can replace it. Make sure GMpartsdirect actually has one and can sell it to you.


Un-hook the 12V battery. Remove the service disconnect.


Do NOT skip those steps in that order!


The service disconnect is a multi step removal and install. Don't put it back in right and it won't go.


The 300V negative is NOT repeat NOT grounded.


The cover over the DC cables at the battery has a safety interlock circuit in it. Put it in wrong and NO go.


A cherry picker or two strong guys can get it out the side door.

Don't forget to check the 2 way shipping costs, that is a heavy and large part. May be cheaper to negotiate with local dealer and beat the total cost. (my dealer parts guy will match the GMpartsdepot pricing).
