Note that I said very light pressure on flat ground. I have driven an escape hybrid for 5 years. I do not have a lead foot. But I am talking about such light acceleration that the foot can hardly handle such delicate movements. Do you really mean that the government testing is done with such minor movements that they are beyond human ability? Or do you just mean that the EPA figures are fantasy?

You are the expert, and I am not. Are you saying that the 2013 Silverado Hybrid can not get 20 mpg city as claimed?

The city gas mileage is 16 mpg rather than the 20 mpg claimed. Any knowledge on this is welcome.
I average 25 mpg highway and 21-23 mpg city if you master the LFA engine. In between I realize it is faster too from 0-99mph. The EPA underestimated the numbers. If it was honda it will be reported as 25/23 mpg.

Thanks. Your reply is very helpful to me. Do you have any idea as to what could keep the engine from staying in EV mode?

There can be a lot of things. State of charge of your 300v battery, 12v battery, ambient temperature, etc. if the dealer everything checks out ok, and your 12v battery is new then everything should be okay. Remember I achieve these numbers using top tier shell or Exxon premium fuel. I find regular to give much less mileage. I achieved 16 mpg towing my Honda Pilot and MB GLK. While my non hybrid 2015 escalade platinum gets 12 mpg towing same vehicles.

You are an angel. Thank you so much for these suggestions. I will try to emulate you. I thought that maybe a hybrid battery charge might have this effect. I love hybrids and feel fortunate to have the last Silverado hybrid made.
