So you put new pads on? Did you look at the old ones? Evenly worn? I wonder who will be the high mileage brake life champion?

I went to McDonald's cadillac and ask them to replace the rears. but after quoting me $219.00 front and back I just bit the bullet and replaced all 4's. to order pads is 140 fronts and 120 rears online. For $219.00 parts and labor taxes included I thought it was a good deal and took it. I'll be traveling this holidays and it would be hard to make a scheduled stop. btw, I ask them not to turn the rotors.

I may eventually be the high mileage brake life champ.

I get some service done at my dealer and they have been telling me with their "courtesy inspection" that the brake pads are getting worn, which makes sense because I have 116K on the originals.
So I gather all of the necessary materials to change the pads myself(I'm certainly not paying anybody to do something so easy), I get the wheels off and guess what? they still have 80%+ still left on them, in fact the measurements are so close to the new ones I can barely see a difference. There is no way they could have even looked at them and said they were worn at all without lying. The difference on a micrometer is negligible. If my calculations are correct I may go 200K maybe even 300K+ on the original brakes.

A side note, if you want the "OEM" pads that GM installs at the factory, they are Akebono (ACT1363 front & ACT 1194 rear)(GM #171-1007 front & 171-0999 rear, you will pay more for re branded GM), these are manufactured in the USA and Akebono are what come on all(most) GM cars from the factory. If you just walk into your dealer, they likely will NOT sell you these, they do not have a high enough profit margin for the dealers(and they do cost slightly more). What the dealers carry are AC Delco "Advantage" or "Durastop" which are low quality/junk made by Affinia(Raybestos) in Mexico/China/India , these have a much higher profit margin for the dealer and wear out quicker so you will be back for more.(P/N for these are Advantage-14D1367CH & 14D1194CH, Durastop-17D1367CH & 17D1194CH) avoid these.

When Regenerative braking is your dominant mode... you use friction pads much less.

Thank you for all the PN, and your observations and opinions.

Just rolled over 100k. Ours has that stutter when the re-gen braking kicks in. Hate it but I'm used to it. I just gas it going downhills to make it quit
